La capitale officielle de la Tanzanie est Dodoma, une ville bien plus petite située vers le centre du pays.

En Tanzanie vivent plus de 120 tribus parlant au total plus de 100 langues. Les principales tribus sont les Sukuma, les Nyamwezi, les Haya, les Nyakyusa et les Chagga, qui comptent chacun plus d’un million de membres. Cependant, aucune tribu ne domine les autres, ce qui contribue à la stabilité du climat politique du pays.
